Water Bar - Tevilat Keilim

Question

Shalom,We have a small water cooler at work from the company “Tzalul.” Is it permitted for me to use it, with regard to the requirement of tevilat keilim?

Answer

Shalom uVracha

Check where the cooler was manufactured.
If it was made in Israel, no tevilah is needed.

If it was made abroad, it does require tevilah.
Alternatively, you can have a significant part of the machine purposely disabled and then repaired by a Jewish technician, this process exempts it from tevilah.

Sometimes this happens on its own, if a Jewish technician has already fixed a major issue in the machine.

Our Rav, HaGaon Rav Amrom Fried shlit”a, rules that one should not use the device until it has either been immersed or repaired in this way.
