Since the heating element is metal, the entire appliance requires immersion with a blessing.
In practice, for most models, immersing the appliance in water isn’t possible because the electrical system is delicate and can be damaged.
The solution is to disassemble a central part of the device and then have it reassembled by a Jewish technician.
It’s important to define the machine repair as a skilled task ("ma'aseh uman") and not something that just anyone can do.
