Where is the Ark of the Covenant
Question
Hi, I have 2 big questions: 1. Where is the Ark of the Covenant today? Was it destroyed? Is it still hidden in a secret room under Temple Mount? Was it taken to Ethiopia by Melinik, the son of King Solomon (with Queen Sheba)? 2. Where is Mt. Sinai located? Is it in the Sinai Peninsula? Is it in Saudia Arabia as many videos suggest (some by Simcha jacobovici) or claimed? In this scenario, the red sea crossing was in Nueba, which is in the Golf of Aqaba and not near Goshen which is in the Golf of Suez, as many led us to believe. 3. Was King Solomon really the wisest man on earth at that time? Really? To me, marring a thousand women don't show wisdom at all! The opposite! Just my thoughts. Thoughts? Arie.
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your questions.
Nobody knows where the Ark of the Covenant is today. So too, no one knows exactly where the true Mt. Sinai is located, though the site called Mt. Sinai is a good candidate. On that note, nobody knows where the burning bush was, nobody knows the exact route of the Exodus, and nobody knows where Elijah the prophet hid on Mt. Carmel
Although there are a number of theories regarding all such matters, none of them are overly convincing or have solid backing. But more importantly, questions such as these have little importance in traditional Judaism. What’s important is the observance of the Torah and the mitzvot.
Yes, the Scripture tell us that King Solomon was the wisest of all men (See 1 Kings, chapter 3) although we might not understand all of his decisions.
