What Bodies Will People Have at the Resurrection of the Dead?
Question
Shalom
From what I understand about people coming back to life in the world to come, it could happen in different ways. For example, people who were cremated might still come back because of a prophecy. But I wonder what bodies they would come back in. Would they be born again as new babies, with the souls of the people who were cremated?
I’ve also heard that the skeletons of righteous people in their tombs could come back to life again in the same bodies they once had.
Another idea I’ve read about with a vague memory, is that righteous souls will return in newly created bodies and come through special tunnels from the spiritual world.
Am I understanding these ideas correctly?

Answer
Thank you for your question.
One of the Thirteen Principles of Faith is that we believe that righteous people who have passed away will be resurrected when Mashiach comes. This is called Techiyas HaMeisim, the resurrection of the dead.
They will then be healed from any ailments they may have had. It is also brought in the Midrash (Shemot) that those who passed away outside of Eretz Yisrael will come through special tunnels and emerge in Eretz Yisrael.
Wishing you well.
