Talmud Study

Question

Shalom Rabbi, my name is Bob I have question. I am currently reading Rabbi Steinsaltz edition of Talmud. Two questions. First should I read Mishnah to Mishnah? Or Daf to Daf?. Does subject change after Mishnah?. Second Why doesn't Rabbi Steinsaltz include Rashi script?. That's all, my first try at Talmud. Thank you Rabbi. Bob

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

It is great to hear you are making an effort to study Talmud!

Although I am not familiar with the edition you refer to, I am told that it is an edition that tried to make Talmud study as easy as possible. As such, perhaps that is why Rashi script was removed and replaced with the more common Hebrew script.

You can study the Talmud in order, from Mishna to Gemara until the next Mishna. There is also value in Mishna study alone. However, it seems to me that you will enjoy an interrupted read, in order.
