Conversion to Another Religion
Question
If a Christian converts to Jewish he/she is no longer Christian only Jewish. When a Jewish person converts or is Baptised or converts to Christian they are always Jewish. Why?
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
There is no way for a Jew to leave Judaism. This is true for one who was born Jewish or for one who converted. Once a Jew, always a Jew. As the Talmud says, "a Jew who sins is still a Jew."
Hence, even though "converting" to another religion is on of the worst things a Jew can do, he/she remains a Jew nonetheless, and will always be welcomed back.
