How to View Past Decisions Through Emunah

Hello, thank you for having this service.

I have been reading a lot about Emunah and Bitachon.
If I made a decision in my life and after I consider this was a mistake, does this is consider Bitachon or is this my fault ?

My bad decision was about trying to migrate to a different country with my family bit I decided to return, and now I think was a mistake.

Please help me with your answer. Thank you.

The question you raised is a very important one about emunah and bitachon. Sometimes a person looks back and feels regret over past decisions, and the question is, how does that fit with the belief that everything is destined by Hashem’s divine plan?

I would like to share with you the holy Chazon Ish’s approach to this subject. He explains that everything that happened in the past, including the decisions we made, was exactly what Hashem wanted to happen and part of His divine plan. Even the choices we took were guided from Above.

However, that applies only to the past.

In the present, and looking forward, a person must do everything within their ability, their hishtadlut, to improve their situation and make the right choices.

Circling back to your question: do not regret the past decisions you made. Instead, use your energy to move forward in the direction that will be best for you and your family.
