Conversion Must Be Done With Rabbinic Guidance

Question

I've been trying to contact my local rabbi for a long time, asking if I can visit the synagogue because I want to attend it and eventually convert, but every time I try to ask I get no reply back. One of the requirements they have is to have been attending the synagogue for 1 year before starting the conversion process, but if I can't enter the synagogue, how can I immerse myself in the community? I've been devoted by heart to Judaism for years, it's my passion and to be unable to even visit the synagogue greatly saddens me..

Answer

Thank you for your question.

I understand that you are trying to do this on your own. However, the conversion process must be done with rabbinic guidance. Therefore, I suggest that you contact an Orthodox rabbi who can guide you on how this process is done, and advise you when and how to attend a synagogue.

Wishing you all the best.
