Demons Name / G-d's Name
Question
Why does the name of the evil spirits (shedim) have the same shoresh as God? Shakai
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
Although they appear similar, the two words are actually not the same. The root of "Shedim" is "shed" (demons) while the word of "Shadd-ai" is a complete stand-alone word and shoresh in one, meaning "Almighty."
