G-d's Name Rubbed Out

G-d

Question

Hi Rabbi , i hope your doing well. I had another question in regarding of gods nane in Particular in whom im scared to even type let alone say although ive only said his name in majority joyous moments and troublesome moments in my lige i believe as im scared to take gods name in vein, even as i write all this. But what got me worried is that upon my normal day during my eading of thee shema prayer as i look upon the words of the lord , in the one the sentences i look upon gods Name Hashem , i had to write the lords name because i unfortunately and heartbreakingly and devastatingly realized that the name Hashem/ the letter "A" is scratched off on the one of two of my shema prayer pamphlets ???? Im very worried and concerned about this ?? Should i be as concerned as i am or am i looking too much into this . This thought alone amongst other things is killing me inside. If it is a bad sign of some sort godforbid , is there anyway to undue the bad that has been shown or its not as big as i make it to be? Please Rabbi Let me know as soon as you can any of your words of possible hope and hopefully reversable correction somehow if possible.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for writing.

You have nothing to worry about. There is no problem or concern if G-d’s name was rubbed out in your prayer book or Shema prayer pamphlets, and the like.

Again, as mentioned, it is permissible to say G-d’s name in the course of prayers. At all other times one says “G-d” or “Hashem.”
