Yom Kippur fast for a woman that just gave birth
Question
Does a woman who gave birth on the second day of Tishrei, have to fast on Yom Kippur (the ninth day after giving birth). Thank you and mazal tov!
Answer
Yom Kippur is the ninth day after this woman gave birth, and she has to fast in a regular way. However, she should lie down and rest so as not to become too weakened by the fast.
If she feels especially weak, if she is dizzy or fatigued or sees black, she should begin drinking small amounts (less than 40 ml every nine minutes). If that doesn’t help, she should drink in a regular way.
