Thorough Cleaning during the Nine Days

Question

Is it permitted to tidy up and clean the house (cleaning that is done once every few months) during the Nine Days for Ashkenazi Jews?

Answer

Shalom!
Halachic authorities do not mention a prohibition to clean the house. However, it is not appropriate to do especially enjoyable things on days designated for mourning.
Therefore, if it is something enjoyable, it is appropriate to refrain from doing it. But if it is 'work', it is permitted.
In any case, if you have no other time for this, it is fine.
