Kashruth of the shophar in the month of Elul
Question
In the synagogue where I pray there is only one old shophar, and it’s cracked. My question is, do we have to acquire a kosher shophar for blowing after prayer in the month of Elul? Thank you
Answer
For blowing after prayer in the month of Elul, you can be lenient and use a shophar, which is not kosher for blowing on Rosh Hashana.
