Three Fasts Before Bat Mitzvah
Question
A girl who is celebrating her Bat Mitzvah on Isru Chag Sukkot — is there any reason for her to fast on the three fasts that fall before her Bat Mitzvah: Tisha B’Av, Tzom Gedaliah, and Yom Kippur?
Answer
Shalom,
The ruling of our teacher, Harav Amrom Fried shlit”a, is that a girl should not fast before reaching the age of Bat Mitzvah
(There is no source for the practice of fasting the three fasts prior to that age.)
