Western Wall

Question

1. Who built the Western Wall, the Jewish place of worship, and please tell us its history.?
2. How can I, as a Bangladeshi, perform that worship? What is the halakhic ruling on this?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for writing.

The Western Wall (Kotel) in Jerusalem was built by King Herod in around the year 20 BCE as part of his expansion of the Second Temple complex. Due to the massive expansion, he needed to build retaining walls to hold the Temple Mount together so that it should not collapse.

The Wall has been strengthened at various times in history since then.

All people are welcome to visit the Western Wall and pray to G-d there.
