On Rosh Hashanah, saying tehillim instead of piyutim?
Question
On Rosh HaShanah, if during the chazan's repetition of Shmonah Essri, he says the additional piyutim, is it permissible for a congregant to say Tehillim at that time instead of the piyutim?
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
One should listen to the repetition and participate in the responsive readings. This is true for every repetition of the Shemoneh Esrei of the year.
