Shema With a Child
Question
When saying shema with my little sister of 3 do I say it all with Hashems name?
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
You are permitted to recite Shema with a child and include Hashem’s name. (from the age he understands that he is learning to pray),
This is because the recitation of shema, even when not truly an obligation, is still a fulfillment of Torah study. So too, in general, we are allowed to use Hashem’s name when training children how to pray and recite blessings.
