Naming Before the Brit Milah
Question
Shalom Harav, Is it permissible to give a name to a sick infant who cannot undergo circumcision yet, so that people can pray for him? If possible, please provide sources.Thank you very much.
Answer
Thank you for your question.
If one knows that the circumcision cannot be performed on time, it would then be permissible to give the child a name before the circumcision.
See Chamudei Daniel, Hilchot Milah, Ot 23.
