Bar Mitzvah: Not Jewish
Question
My son is 12 and mother is not Jewish. He wants to have a Bar Mitzvah. Are there any steps we need to take for his conversation so he can have a Bar Mitzvah?
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
As you have said, your son is not Jewish and, as such, has no reason to have a Bar Mitzvah.
It is not possible to convert just to have a Bar-Mitzvah. Conversion takes many years to complete and can only be done when desiring to observe the entire Torah simply for the love of the Torah.
You can contact your local orthodox rabbi for more information.
