Who We Are

Our website, www.sheilot.com. is a project of the charitable organization "Beсhira Ledorot" (#580672749)

The purpose of this project is to answer halachic questions we receive from people from around the world. Unfortunately, there are many websites and on-line rabbis who are answering questions but whose reliability is questionable. As such, we turned to Rabbi Amram Fried, shlita, who is one of the most distinguished and reliable halachic authorities of our time. Rabbi Fried and his team of rabbis have graciously agreed to team up with us and answer questions under Rabbi Fried’s guidance.

We forward all questions to qualified and experienced rabbis, or, if necessary, to Rabbi Amram Fried himself, and respond with their answers, usually within 24 hours.

The purpose of the Beis Hora’ah is to enable every Jew, in every place, and in every situation, to resolve whatever halachic doubts they may have and to receive proper guidance in serving Hashem properly.

We would like to emphasize that the best way to consult with a rabbi is to meet him in person. However, when this is not possible, our website will help you answer your questions accurately and solve any problem in the most efficient way possible.

In our rabbi’s opinion, the use of the Internet should best be avoided altogether, and one should discuss its use with a qualified rabbi.

Halachic answers

The purpose of our website is to provide halachic answers to everyone, regardless of their location, and we do so in a number of different languages. Our areas of expertise include financial laws, marriage, kashrus, Shabbos, laws of family purity, Jewish holidays, laws of mourning etc.

The questions are sorted by subject and forwarded to the Beis Hora’ah rabbis depending on their area of expertise. If necessary, the question will be answered by Rabbi Amram Fried, shlita, himself.

The rabbinical team is headed by Rabbi Israel Cohen (Beis Hora’ah of the Sderot Yechezkel community, Modiin Illit, and Beis Hora’ah of Chanichei Hayeshivos, Brachfeld) and Rabbi Yehuda Sturtz (Beis Hora’ah of Chanichei Hayeshivos, Brachfeld and Beis Hora’ah Neos Simcha, Modiin Illit). Both have years of experience answering complex halachic questions online.

Spreading Torah

In addition to accumulating a large database of halachic Q&A, our website spreads and explains Torah in a clear and accessible language.

The website contains articles on various halachic subjects from all sections of the Shulchan Aruch, reflections on the weekly Torah portions, and a newsletter on current halachic issues.
Our goal is to spread the light of Torah among Jews around the world and to answer halachic questions.

Helping Diaspora Judaism

Our goal is to make halachic information available to Jews all around the world. We are trying to make our answers available in every language spoken in the Diaspora, so that all Jews can learn from them in their native language.

We are impressed by the number of questions that we receive from Jews living outside Israel who are eagerly looking to us for answers in order to observe the Torah in the best possible way.

Future rabbis

The Beis Hora’ah of our teacher, Rabbi Amram Fried, shlita, trains dozens of rabbis for this work and receives hundreds of questions daily. This enables the rabbis to gain experience in all areas of Jewish law by assisting one of the greatest poskim of our time.
