Artificially Cultivated Meat in Halacha

Question

"Cultivated Meat" - examined in the light of Halacha: a. Does the "culture" (from which the meat is grown) need to be taken from kosher meat - a kosher animal? b. Does it specifically require a slaughtered animal? c. Is it considered meat?

Answer

Dear …!
This issue has not yet been decided among the great Halachic authorities, and certainly this is not the place to decide on it.
What is clear at the moment is that even if it is decided that it is not considered meat by Jewish law, but it is a neutral product, it will be forbidden to eat it with milk, due to Mar'it Ayin (the appearance of impropriety). [At least as long as this product does not become a regular and accepted meat substitute].
