Coffee with a cookie or coffee with sugar before prayer

Question

In order to concentrate during prayer, I need to either drink coffee with sugar and milk, or I can drink coffee without sugar, but need to eat a cookie along with the coffee. What is preferable to drink before Shacharit (morning prayer)?

Answer

It is preferable to have coffee with sugar.

Source

Even though during the time of the Mishnah Berurah, drinking coffee with sugar was considered a display of pride, in our times it is a regular way of drinking coffee, and it is intended to awaken the drinker, and it is permissible if it is necessary. Eating a cookie is more problematic, and if it is possible to refrain from it and concentrate on the prayer, it is appropriate to do so.
