Trying on a shaatnez garment

Question

I am staying abroad right now. Am I allowed to try on clothing in a store, even though it might contain shaatnez (a forbidden mixture of wool and linen), and then bring it back to Israel to be checked?

Answer

Dear …!
It is permissible to try on a garment that may or may not contain shaatnez.
