Using a shaatnez rug
Question
Is one permitted to use a rug that contains shaatnez (a forbidden mixture of wool and linen)?
Answer
Dear …!
It’s forbidden to use shaatnez fabric for warmth of for covering oneself. Therefore, if the rug is intended to warm those who walk on it, it’s forbidden. And even if it’s not intended specifically for this purpose, but it can fold up and cover someone’s foot, it’s forbidden. But if this is a stiff rug, or if it’s attached to the floor, it’s permitted.
