Mezuzah on a balcony

Question

When one affixes a mezuzah on an entrance to a balcony, does one have to recite a blessing?

Answer

Dear …!

If this is an enclosed balcony or an oriel that’s fit to sleep in, that is, if there are walls and a ceiling, and it is at least four by four cubits in size (according to different opinions, from 196 by 196 to 240 by 240 cm. [from 77 by 77 to 94 by 94 inches]), you have to recite a blessing. Otherwise, you do not have to recite a blessing.

If the balcony is not fit to sleep in, you have to affix the mezuza on right hand side of the entrance when you walk from the balcony into the house, and you don’t recite a blessing.
