Showering before minchah
Question
Is one allowed to take a shower before mincha (the afternoon prayer)?
Answer
Today one is allowed to take a shower before minchah, because the baths aren’t that hot, and the likelihood that one could lose consciousness and miss minchah is nonexistent. However, one is not allowed to enter a sauna half and hour (relative) before the time of minchah gdolah (that is, starting at noon, chazos), because it’s a very hot and humid there, and it’s similar to the baths of the times of the Sages.
