Naming according to parents’ wishes

Question

Dear Rabbi! What do you, as a Rabbi, think about naming a child? Father’s father is very interested that the baby be named after him, but baby’s parents are inclined to give him a different name. Should they take grandfather’s opinion into account, or should the naming of the baby remain exclusively in his parents’ hands?

Answer

If the baby’s parents do not totally oppose this name, they should definitely take grandfather’s wishes into consideration.
