Copying a computer program

Question

Is one allowed to make a copy of a computer program for use, if the one it’s being copied from acquired it for money? Is there a difference between one’s son and a stranger in this case?

Answer

It’s forbidden. There is a disagreement between authorities concerning this question. But since this is a matter of Torah law, one has to be stringent in case of doubt.
