Intermarriage

Question

Hello Rabbi, Unfortunately, my brother is off the derch and living with a non Jewish woman and they are set to be married next year. People try to ask me questions about him, the girl, and the wedding. How can I answer and what can I say to avoid speaking loshon hora? Thank you.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question!

There are ways you can respond to such inquiries without speaking “Lashon Hara” (forbidden speech).

You don’t have to discuss your brother at all, rather you should answer in a general way like my brother needs Rachamey shamayim or I don't want to discuss it, it is too hurtful.
