Mikvah after surgery

Question

I need to go to mikvah but had surgery on middle finger. Doctor explicitly said not to get it wet or damp until next postop visit which is on the 25th. I already am late for the mikvah since I couldn’t keep the regular 7 day counting (about 3 days pushed off until so can use my hand which wasn’t working). If I postpone any longer I will already be on my period again. I have short cycles 22-25 days. I’m good to dunk on the 19th but cannot without waterproofing my finger. I bought finger waterproof covers that slip on and can be cut off to protect the surgical site. But need to know if halachically it is ok to do that. My husband told me to find out.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

If you will be able to immerse next month without a bandage, you should wait for your next immersion and immerse then without the bandage.
