Damages Caused by Workers

Question

If someone hires a worker to do work for his apartment and the worker piled his tools in a way that the pile fell when the worker left for the day and broke a window in the building . Is the one who hired the worker responsible? And would it make a difference if damage is done when the worker is actualy doing the work?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

Based on the information you provided here and in your follow up explanation, the Jewish worker has to pay. If he doesn't then one may reduce the amount of the wages and use that money to pay for the damages that the worker did.
