Conservative conversion

Question

I’m currently dating a conservative Jewish man. He has spoken to me recently about proposing but says I would need to convert to Judaism in order for our wedding to be recognized in Israel. He says the only way to properly do this is through Orthodox Conversion - is this true or am I able to do a conservative conversion?

Answer

Shalom! <>

The only conversion that has any meaning at all is an orthodox conversion. And indeed, in Israel, anyone who underwent a different type of conversion will not be recognized as a Jew by the state authorities. <>

Good luck ! <>
