Washing a Shirt on a Holiday

Question

I have run out of clean shirts and I do not have a suitable shirt to wear for the holiday. I only have shirts that are really too small for me and it will greatly reduce my enjoyment of the holiday. Are there solutions as to how to launder a shirt for the holiday?

Answer

Shalom and happy holidays!
If you do not have a suitable garment to wear on the holiday, you are allowed to launder a shirt. There is no difference between hand washing and machine washing.
It is forbidden to add garments that you are not allowed to wash to the laundry that you are permitted to wash.
