Checking Cabbage After Freezing

Question

Regarding the inspection of cabbage - is an inspection necessary after freezing? I want to make stuffed cabbage. The recipe states that it needs to be frozen and then thawed. I heard that there is no need for inspection afterwards. Should I buy cabbage that is clean of insects?

Answer

Shalom!
A. Examine the leaves to see if there are holes; if there are, remove the affected area.
B. Freeze for at least a few hours.
C. Thaw slightly.
D. Remove one leaf at a time and wash it thoroughly from both sides under a stream of water while opening every fold. Wash all the leaves of the cabbage this way.
