An Object Before a Person Who Is Praying

Question

Is there a Torah law that when I do not have a wall to stand in front of for the Amidah, I need to take a chair or something else to be in front of me and only then pray? If this is so, I would be happy to know, what the source for this is.

Answer

Shalom!
The opposite is true. One should strive to ensure that there is no object intervening between the person who is praying and the wall.
However, a small and movable object is not considered an intervening object, but certainly there is no reason to deliberately place an object in front of oneself.

Shulchan Aruch, section Orach Chaim, chapter 90, §21.
