Installation of a Pergola during the Nine Days

Question

I want to build a pergola for shade in my yard. It is not a permanent fixture and is mainly intended for use during the summer break. Is it permissible to do this during the Nine Days? And if it is forbidden, is it at least permitted to prepare the screws in the wall?

Answer

Shalom and good week!
One should refrain from building things intended for pleasure during the Nine Days.
Therefore, putting in the screws, which do not provide pleasure, is permitted during these days. As for the pergola itself, it is advisable to wait until after Tisha B'Av.
