Issue of Selecting Books on Shabbos
Question
Regarding Borer on Shabbos with books: when there is a pile of books and I want one book, do I need to pull out only the book I want from the pile, or may I lift all the books that are on top of the one I want, put them aside, and then take the book?

It is permitted to remove the top layers in order to reach the item you want.
